Emergency Flood Damage Removal Dos and Don’ts in Pacific Palisades

If your home has suffered flood damage, here a few dos and don’ts for emergency flood damage removal in Pacific Palisades that will help you get your home back to normal:

The Do’s 

  • First off, contact your insurance company immediately and make sure they are aware of the extent of the damage that has been caused to your home
  • Inspect all the ceilings in your home and stay out of rooms where the ceilings sag from retained water
  • It is important that you ventilate the wet areas. 
  • If you have any valuables stored in the affected areas, only try to salvage them if the room is secure. 
  • Remove wet carpets and other wet floor coverings and keep in a dry secure area
  • Remove and wipe off excessive water from furniture and walls or even the floor with the help of mops and sponges. 
  • Remove damp possessions and leave them out to dry, particularly books and paintings that may suffer extensive damage.


The Don’ts

  • Do not turn on electrical appliances or central heating in case the pipes are leaking or the wires are damaged. Seek help from a professional to know when it is safe to use these appliances again
  • Stay away from wet areas that may be infected with bacteria, molds or dirty water.
  • Don’t used a vacuum cleaner as a means of removing excess water
  • Seek professional help as soon as possible 
  • Keep a close eye on your children and take care of yourself.
